Any Fluid is Good Fluid

Once upon a time I had a thing for Diet Coke. I drank quite a bit of it, much to the chagrin of just about everyone around me, with the exception of my parents because they encouraged the Diet Coke Behaviours. People would make awful noises and comment upon how awful they thought it tasted, or reminded me of the things it would do to my body. I would calmly explain that the flavour of Diet Coke was the flavour of pop I grew up with, and regular Coke makes my tteth feel down-right furry. As for the body to formaldehyde claims, well, pish. Save the mortician some work, yeah?
Those days are gone though, and on the whole I consumer fewer millilitres of the stuff. DM is likely wondering just how much Diet Coke I was consuming in those dark days, given that if I am stressed or celebrating, eating pizza, or breathing, I still reach for a DC.
On a recent outing “across the river”, I found this:
That’s right, people! Vitamins and minerals! Niacin, B6, B12, magneesium and zinc to be perfectly specific. Diet Coke Plus will save America (yet to be released in Canada) from having to drink juice or eat pesky vegetables. Thank you Coca-Cola Bottling Company. From humble beginnings as a coca plant-based pick-me-up (just admit it!) through the New Coke vs. Coke Classic years, we have arrived at the beginning of something special – junk food as health food. If only they could make eggplant taste like cheesecake…
