Taking One for the Team

It’s very difficult only eating what is in your cupboard/fridge when you have cookies and cream ice cream bars.

Grocery Store Armageddon

So, judging by the state of things at our local Giant Mega Big Food Store, the world must be ending. Funny, I did not get that memo.

I’m not sure why shelves raped bare of food and people slamming into me with carts full of plastic water bottles and over-processed food irks the hell out of me. Maybe it’s because, as time marches on, I seek to decrease the size of my footprint and tighten the circle from within which I gather my own foodstuffs. Or maybe it’s because no one should be eating THAT many Pizza Pops.

In that vein, DM and I are attempting to eat up the things we have. We’re also endeavouring to only shop the outside ring of the grocery store and try to get as much produce as we can from the local market.

Judging by tonight’s meal, I think we’re going to be okay – spinach manicotti, homemade tomato sauce and some garlic toast. I’ll keep you posted as we muddle along eating vegetables. Ice cream’s in the outer ring isn’t it?
