Today I did two things that make me a nerd of my own special things.
Firstly, I got crazy excited to recive a notice from the Post Office that I had to a) go there and b) pay them $16 in duty fees. No sweat, because it meant these awesome shirts from Threadless had finally arrived.

Please note I do not know these people, but borrowed these images from the Threadless website, which I highly recommend you check out. In fact, abort this blog reading mission right now and go. Buying hip t-shirts is way better than the minutiae of my life.
The second cool-to-me-but-maybe-not-to-you thing I did to day was sign myself (and the sister) up for The 1000 Knitters Project. What is this Project, you ask? According to the official website, it is “a long-term photography project undertaken by Chicago photographer (and knitter) Franklin Habit, who blogs at The Panopticon. The goal is to celebrate through portraiture a creative community whose members have historically been either overlooked or sentimentalized, and whose work is often undervalued”. On World Wide Knit in Public Day (June 14th, duh), Lindsey and I will show up with our bag of sticks to the designated location Toronto and knit a row on a scarf that has been lovingly crafted by knitters from far and wide. The Harlot has arranged the whole deal to celebrate a birthday and WWKIPD. Bottom line is that I am stoked!
We return you now to your regularly scheduled LAN party…

Dear Moira,
I hear that San Francisco is lovely this time of year. I understand that you must indeed be tired from hauling your bag of $1.88 souvenir t-shirts up and down the hills, but didn’t anyone ever tell you that San Fran had a few tiny bumps? I suppose you might be too old to have watched Full House. How else do you think Stephanie rammed that car right into the kitchen? Downhill acceleration can be a nasty, nasty thing.
You indicate that you’re tired old body is ready for a whole week on a cruise ship. I wonder if maybe then, since you’ll no doubt be enjoying the floor show, the midnight buffet and a couple spirited rounds of pinochle, you’ll have time to consult your address book? Please don’t misunderstand me, I sure do love the picturesque views of street cars and Chinatown at night, but don’t you think Jean would like them even better?
I should thank you though, as I have ventured out of my home and met the neighbours. The one likely candidate to have the name “Jean” is no Jean at all, rather a Doreen, and did you know she’s hired a man to plant her flowers? And she’s going to take up all that carpeting on her driveway and get it all freshly tarred, if she can afford it. Guys who plant flowers don’t come cheap and seem to suck the budget dry faster than you can say MiracleGro. Also, would I like to come in for tea?
So Moira, have a lovely time on your cruise, give my love to Yonne. Tell her to take it easy, there will no doubt be cheap souvenirs at all your ports of call. Save some money for St. Lucia! Perhaps when you get back, we could all have a cup of tea. Doreen’s ready to go at the shortest notice.
Kim
