A Vehicle for Brown Sugar

I tried to call. Your phone must not be working.

One thing is for sure, and that is my seemingly bottomless bag of excuses as to why I haven’t posted. I know, My One Loyal Fan, you’re waiting on tenterhooks (who knew?) for something profound. And really? Several times in the past two weeks, I have thought “now THERE’S something I can write about”. Did I jot it down? Did I make a tiny note somewhere other than the junk drawer of my brain? Nope. And so I give you drivel. Notice how freely the drivel flows. I am of the species Drivelus Regularis, with not so much emphasis as I would like on the Regularis bit.

Let’s have some bullets here to make you think I’m organized and have thought well in adavance what I’d be typing here. If you pay close attention you’ll see there’s is no obvious pattern or connection. I like to think of it as being a bit post-modern.

  • I’m starting to get mighty excited about the 1000 Knitters Project and it’s scheduled stop in Toronto on Saturday. Is it wrong that I’m stressing about what to wear? Perhaps it’s even more wrong that I know exactly what I want to wear and haven’t made it yet. Hello Tuesday! Someone had better haul it with the sewing machine and such.
  • My sister has decided to knit a pair of socks, bless her. After a bit of a restart, she is off to the races on the world’s most fashionable slouch sock. Please stop adding stitches otherwise you’ll be getting a quick phone call from 1991 asking a) can she have her slouch sock back and b) why didn’t you use a neon colourway? She’s coming with me to be photographed for the 1000 Knitters Project and frankly, I’m nervous about the single 22 stitch row she is going to have to knit. I taught her everything she knows and if she drops the ball I am going to look like the mother whose child got caught shoplifting at the age of 6.
  • The garden that I have planted is starting to really bloom and grow. Grow and bloom. Whatever order you see fit is fine by me. I’m going to post pictures and stories the likes fo which will make you laugh quietly to yourself, but I’m not wasting all my goodmaterial on one post.

And we’re done. Always do things little clusters of things in odd numbers. At Vehicle for Brown Sugar we are all about the aesthetics.

O.K so I’d like to state that I did not drop the ball. My knitting of that row was utterly amazing! But it’s funny that you mentioned that feeling of a parent whose child shoplifts at the age of six….did mom share that feeling with you? Because, I would like to remind you that I totally stole a pack of Chicklets when I was a little younger than six…ohhh I think that makes it even worse! Mom made me go back in and return what was left of the pack but still pay for it…PLUS, I had to throw out the gum I was chewing….what a rip! Anyway, if you want to experience that feeling….talk to yo’ Momma’!
